If you are planning for an event that will have a large number of people coming through and participating at the event, you will want to use some type of crowd control and management system to help control the movement and lining up of the guests through the event. To minimize accidents and keep the activities in order, a well-defined area for queuing and for pedestrian traffic is the key to keeping order in the venue environment. The following provides you with some tips to help you use retractable belt stanchion systems at your event to control crowds and form easy-to-manage lines with your event safety and reduce liability.

Decide Where You Need Them

As you are making plans to rent the appropriate retractable stanchions for line formation and crowd control, you will need to decide where you want them and their placement. This will help you decide how many and their lengths. Look at the area to decide if you will need longer lengths for your stanchions or if you can use several shorter retractable belts to fit into a smaller area. Determine the entrance and plan for a set of longer stanchions if you plan for a large number of people waiting to get into your event, especially where you will be checking IDs, scanning tickets, checking a guest list, or taking payment from each guest.

You will also want to set up stanchions where any food and drink can sell or where you plan to have a crowd gather to watch entertainment. It is better to plan ahead and have the right stanchions for your crowd control than to not have any and run the risk of not having the organization you need for your crowd management and directional traffic flow for the guests.

Choose the Right Stanchions

The type of stanchions you select and their appearance can lend a great deal to your event and its overall appearance. For an upscale or formal event, you can look for stanchions that provide a classy look and color, such as black or red velvet. For a birthday party, class reunion, or a carnival, using more colorful stanchions can provide a fun and festive atmosphere that will fit in better with your event. Make sure if you are using stanchions at night that you select those with reflective straps or another method to help them remain visible in the dark.

Manage Their Set-Up

Consider the type of activity going through or waiting through the stanchions at your event so you can place them appropriately. For example, if there is a line formation for customer payment or providing another type of personal information before entering, you will want to ensure privacy for your guests and place the stanchions several feet away from the location of the check-in or payment area. Be sure to include a sign that indicates for guests to wait at the end of the stanchions until they are called up so each guest has their privacy protected.

About Me
Having Fun Planning Your Own Wedding

My name's Melissa. Welcome you to my website. I’m so excited to share about my wedding. My husband Jack and I got married five months ago. We planned our entire wedding by ourselves. It wasn’t that we didn’t have parents, family, or friends that wanted to help. In fact, they were all begging to help but we wanted to do this on our own. Before embarking on the wedding planning, we made one promise to each other. That promise was simply, "no stress." Sound impossible? We thought it might be because we had heard numerous times how stressful planning a wedding can be. We had a blast! If something started to get a bit touchy, we found a way to turn it around and make it a fun adventure. I’m going to tell you how we did it, and I hope you will be able to do the same. Enjoy!
